EMET'S BIRTHDAY WEEK - 3 YEARS
It’s hard to believe how fast the years go by sometimes. It still doesn’t seem possible that we celebrated Emet’s 3rd birthday over two months ago! Even though Emet’s love for Cars is still ever-present, we decided to throw him a party that was Lego themed. He’s grown a love for Legos - and learning how to put together and take apart different cars and vehicles are his favorite. We thought it would be fun to try to make him a Lego cake. Well, it didn’t turn out exactly the way we were hoping, but we had so much fun making it and laughing at ourselves.
This week also marked the beginning of one of the sickest seasons we’ve ever walked through. Temperatures topping over 105 and cycling symptoms of the flu between all of the family members. We weren’t about to let any of that get us down for his birthday week, though!
These are some of my favorite highlights from our weeklong celebration. We started the week by waking Emet to a fully decorated house. We put streamers on his door and filled the rooms with balloons. We wrapped all his gifts separately and allowed him to pick a different gift to open each day throughout the week. His birthday week was finished with the grand finale of taking a trip to the mall to visit the Lego, Disney, and candy stores. This was such a sweet time together with our family.

I will always remember Emet’s 2nd Birthday. We were still in the middle of transitioning back to Louisville and in temporary housing - which made things a bit more challenging than a normal year. We were set on making his day special and making the most of our situation…
